Winifred "Win" Smith

Smith, Winifred ‘Win’ Elizabeth age 75 of Ponteix, Saskatchewan, passed away on February 20, 2025 at the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home.  The memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from Notre Dame d’Auvergne Roman Catholic Church with Linda Stumpf officiating.  The eulogist is Carla Hunter. 

Win is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Colin) Laird; son Bradley Smith; grandsons: Brandon Laird, Gavin Laird; granddaughters: Kendra Laird, and Caelan Maitland-Whitelaw; brother Samuel Stevenson; sister Sharon Stevenson.  She was predeceased by her husband Ronald Smith, and her parents Charles and Mable Stevenson.

Win was born on January 6, 1950 in Belfast Northern Ireland, and attended school in North Vancouver.  She married the love of her life, Ronald Smith, on October 7, 1972.  At the time of her passing, Win was enjoying retirement.

She served as president of the Ponteix Legion, and was a member of the Community Housing, Lions Club.  She enjoyed volunteering at the Foyer, and was very involved with the United Church, Stitch and Chatter, and community coffee, and any opportunity Win had to become involved within the community of Ponteix.

Win’s greatest passion was spending as much time with her grandkids as possible.  In her spare time, Win enjoyed knitting baby hats for the NICU (Regina).  She liked getting the community involved in different events such as Remembrance Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Oktoberfest, and many other events around town.  Win liked to sew, quilting, knitting, and many other craft projects, as well as golfing.  She enjoyed the Penticton Elvis festival, which she attended a few times with her good friend Diane, and meeting up with family there. 

Win loved spending time with her friends and family, as well as her time spent with Dennis.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In memory of Win, donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, or to the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home.
