Gaston was born in Ponteix on April 21, 1935 and attended Notekeu Creek School and Ponteix Convent. He married Lorette Lavallee on October 30, 1961 at Frenchville. He had a few small jobs for neighbours nearby and a short summer job with the CPR track in Moose Jaw. He worked mostly for his dad on the farm, and then he operated his own farm until he passed away. Gaston was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Les Aines and Les Fransaskois which met at the Cultural Centre each month. He served on the Parish Council, Governeur Dam Water Users Board and the Governeur Dam original cabin owner's committee. Gaston enjoyed going for coffee with his friends. His favourite get-away was going to his cabin where he could relax, work on projects or entertain those who stopped by. He loved gardening, fabricating and inventing new items that were useful around the farm and playing his harmonica with "The Good Time Band." Gaston worked with his siblings for many years doing his part trying to help the family out and improve things on the family farm. In 1959, Gaston met Lorette Lavallee and in 1961 they were married. Gaston moved away from his family farm and he and Lorette started their own farm. After losing his wife in 2012, Gaston was left with a large hole in his life. He continued helping his son and family on the farm. Right up to the end he could be seen driving around looking at the improvements that were being made to what he had already started. Gaston was a quiet, gentle man who was very loyal and dependable. He was a loving and faithful husband, father and grandfather. Gaston was very proud of his heritage and of the accomplishments of both himself and his family. Donations in Gaston's memory may be made to the Foyer St. Joseph Ponteix Nursing Home.
