Roger Vallee

Vallee, Roger Bernard, age 71, of Ponteix SK, passed away July 5, 2017 at Cypress Regional Hospital. The funeral service was held at 11:00am Tuesday, July 11 at Notre Dame d'Auvergne Roman Catholic Church with Father Guy Amedee officiating. The music was presented by Tom, Gloria and Erick Dennehy. The Eulogist was Roger's son, Todd Vallee. Readers were Carol Vallee, Sonia McCue and Claudette Kawasaki. The interment service was held at Ponteix Roman Catholic Cemetery. The honorary pallbearers were nephews, Mike Vallee, Kim Vallee, Marc Vallee, Dwight Vallee, Roland Clermont, and Marc Clermont. Roger is survived by his Loving Wife of 46 years Sharon Vallee, son Todd (Brianna) Vallee, granddaughter Maisie Vallee, brother Gilbert (Lise) Vallee, sisters-in-law Helen Vallee and Irene Vallee, brother-in-law Mike (Shirley) Runte, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Arthur Vallee, mother Jeanne Vallee, sisters Fern Clermont and Lynn Vallee, brothers Gerry Vallee, Claude Vallee and Ron Vallee, sister-in-law Bernice Maroniuk, and brother-in-law Peter Maroniuk. Roger was born on May 12, 1946, in Willowbunch, SK. He attended school at Ponteix School. Roger was married to Sharon Kos August 22, 1970 at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Rama, SK. He worked for Simpson-Sears in Edmonton, then moved to Vancouver and was employed moving furniture with his brother Claude. He then began his career in roadbuilding with the RM of Whiska Creek. He and his brother Gilbert formed G&R Vallee Earthmoving which became Vallee Earthmoving. He was a member of the Ponteix Stock Car Club, Knights of Columbus, Ponteix Town Council, and Mayor of Ponteix. Roger loved cars and owned many classics. He also loved having heated discussions about the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Blue Jays. He spent time working on projects both at his shop in Ponteix and at his family cabin at Lac Pelletier. Roger will be missed by all who loved him. His larger than life personality paired with his sense of humour, radiant smile, and hard-working attitude made him truly one-of-a kind. Through his many health problems over the last years he persevered with his strong determination and the support of his family and friends. Roger was so thrilled to meet the newest addition to his family, his granddaughter Maisie, born June 29, just before he passed. Roger worked hard, played hard, laughed hard, and fought hard to the very end. We love you Dad. Rest easy. In Roger's memory, memorial donations may be made to the Dr. Noble Irwin Healthcare Foundation with funds going to the Ponteix Health Centre.
